The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world, and the shoe branch takes responsibility for a portion of it. For the most part because the product itself is hard to manufacture and recycle due to its many layers of different materials and glues.
This does not only contribute to a destructive manufacturing cycle, it also limits designer to innovate. The construction and actual design always stay the same and the designer mostly operates as a graphic or surface designer. Resulting in a homogeneous market.
On the other hand the demand for authentic and responsible products is growing. And as a result the market will no longer be able to meet the intrinsic demand of the consumer.
This collection displays a new approach towards shoe design. It is an exploration of new and innovative materials and production techniques that make the production process more responsible and gives the designer more freedom to create unique products.
